Spinney Brothers in Concert
Folks can expect a high-energy, family oriented show from international sensation The Spinney Brothers, featuring lots of hard-driving music focusing on the brother duet harmony. R&R Productions along with the Arizona Bluegrass Association are proud to present this special concert at the Cattle Track Arts Compound Theatre in Scottsdale on Thursday, March 5th at 7 PM.

Discounted advance tickets can be purchased online through Brown Paper Tickets. Limited Gold Circle seating is available. Ticket prices at the door are $25 for Gold Circle and $20 for General seating. Doors open at 6:30 PM. More information about this event is provided through Brown Paper Tickets or call 718-374-1086.

The Spinney's debuted in 1992 showcasing a tight brother duet vocal style that was immediately recognized for its energetic and distinctive sound. But the band really took off when the brothers, Allan and Rick, quit their day jobs and decided to go at this music business full-time five years ago. With 12 albums to their credit (one a year for the past 6 years!), this band definitely earned their 2014 nominations from the International Bluegrass Music Association for Emerging Artist and Song of the Year (for "Grandpa's Way of Life"). In fact, The Spinney Brothers are the first Canadian band to hit American Bluegrass Charts and held the #1 spot for Top 15 Albums on the National Bluegrass Survey for two months.

"By their own admission, these ambitious brothers are living the dream with chart-topping songs and sold out shows," stated one reviewer, "and their ability to gain so many new followers wherever they play is amazing." The cornerstone of The Spinney Brothers musical identity is the sound of traditional, southern-flavored bluegrass music. The first generation bluegrass legends have been an important musical influence, yet their music is equally shaped by their personal lives and local heritage.

Incorporating original material drawn from various sources, The Spinney Brothers effortlessly intertwine the past with the present. For example, take "She Doesn't Mourn Anymore," a song written by Allan Spinney and Paula Breedlove that appears on their latest album, "Tried & True." This song was based on their grandmother's 'bout with Alzheimer's. Says Allan, "I tried to see it in a different light, and see some positivity in it."

The Spinney Brothers believe in the freshness and excitement of traditional bluegrass music and it sure comes through in their performances. According to Allan, "We just do what we love to do, and we hope the people who listen fall in love with it too." Brother duet singing, backed by supportive and complementary instrumentation from Gary Dalrymple on mandolin and Terry Poirier on upright bass, is the foundation of their tasteful and recognizable sound. Logging over 200 days of the year on the road, this Canadian duo has been catapulted into a whirlwind of notoriety on the bluegrass and acoustic music scene. The Phoenix-metro area is darn lucky to have them stop by for this special, one night only, concert!

The Cattle Track Arts Compound is a one-of-a-kind artist colony located on the historic Cattle Track property located in north Scottsdale. Headed up by owner and arts maven Janie Ellis, the colony offers art exhibitions, artists' studios and work spaces, a colonial antique gallery, Theater performances, as well as limited-edition fine art books beautifully crafted on an old-fashioned letter press. Come out and spend the day browsing and join us for the evening concert.
