"Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" by Christopher Durang
Groton Regional Theatre's first show of the 2015 season will be "Vonya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" by Christopher Durang. This winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play is a heartwarming and zany comedy about Vanya and Sonia, two middle-aged siblings who are still living in their childhood home. Their humdrum lives are turned upside-down when their sister Masha, a famous B-movies actress, returns home with her 20-something boy toy Spike and reveals that she wants to sell the house. The normally quiet household is thrown into chaos as its residents and visitors get swept up in an intoxicating mixture of lust, rivalry, regret, nostalgia and a touch of voodoo! Directed by Amy Kirby and produced by Vic Panciera and Anna Maria Trusky, the cast features David Foulkes, Nichelle Rollins, Callie Beaulieu Frisell, Alyson Fowler, Gita Hassain, and Ben Leatham. Performances will be on March 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, and 20, 21, 22. Friday and Saturday shows will be at 8:00 PM and Sunday matinees at 2:00. Tickets will be $15 general admission, $12 for seniors at the door or $12 in advance at www.brownpapertickets.com. The March 6 and 13 performances will be dinner theater; reservations are mandatory. For information and reservations, call Vic Panciera at (860) 446-1363.
