Streetlight Series
Streetlight Series is a film and music showcase for exclusively Michigan made art featuring work from many talented filmmakers and musicians. The Detroit Institute of Music Education (DIME) is sponsoring the event in support of bringing Detroit's creative projects to a wider audience.
FIlm Categories will include: Narrative Short Films Documentary Short FIlms Music VIdeos Feature Film Trailers Art-House Commercial Advertisements
It's going to be really casual, with the goal of bringing the newest and most exciting projects directly to an audience, and building the Detroit indie filmmaking community. We're also partnering with the non-profit group, Mid-Michigan Reptile Rescue, to provide resources to displaced exotic pets.
So often projects are stowed away in internet links or hoarded for months for theatrical presentations and people end up thinking the only films made in Michigan are the big block-buster tax credit incentive movies. But there is a grass roots indie Michigan film movement in the making!
Not too far separated in the struggle for the spotlight is a burgeoning indie music scene propelled by some of the most talented bands to grace the local stage in recent times.
Detroit is a hotbed for artistic creation. Come see what we're made of.
