Silent No More: Release Your Pain & Reclaim Your Voice: A Healing Workshop with Dr. Ni
Silent No More: Release Your Pain & Reclaim Your Voice: A Healing Workshop with Dr. Ni
If you've been abused as a child (or someone close to you has been) the shame and pain of the past, or the shame and guilt inflicted on you when you have shared your story, can silence you in millions of ways: not speaking up to your mate, to your boss, to your siblings, to your family, to your friends.
Silence leads right straight to lack of power: it mimics the situations of our childhoods. We weren't in control then and as adults we lose even more power when we don't speak up.
Survivors are people often seeking safety, and when one has risked telling one's story and been shamed, pushed into guilt, or disbelieved, silence begins to rule our lives and weaken our self-respect.
This workshop will open the door to speaking out in a safe environment of no more than 20 people. I keep it small and intimate so that no one fades into the woodwork. We will listen to music, read a pivotal essay by Pablo Neruda, write a short piece of any length, and learn the power of speaking our truth; the truth we have buried deep within our fear and reluctance. Deep within our shame.
This workshop is open both to people who have experienced abuse and their partners and friends as well as counsellors and other professionals. A relaxed environment where we will come together to learn, share and support each other.
We will: Boldly write and speak our truth, whatever that truth may be Practice reclaiming our voice so it works for us Practice reclaiming our power so that we no longer hide in fear Discuss how to shed shame and experience power Make a list of the truths we need to tell, and to whom Benefits of attending: Break out of isolation and meet others who understand Gain information to help overcome the past Feel supported by both professionals and other survivors Put strategies in place for the future
This workshop may contain graphic details of past abuse. I am committed to helping survivors SPEAK.
The workshop is led by a Survivor who is also an Intuitive, thus I will use my lifetime of spiritual gifts, my 17+ years of teaching experience, my 30 years as a mental health client, and my 21+ years of training in literary analysis to help all attendees express what they must.
