Fruit Growing Series: Principally Peaches
Peach trees are both beautiful and generous. With a little care peach trees are delightfully delicious, early bearing and relatively easy to grow. During this hands-on, interactive workshop, we will look at peach varieties and practical care of trees. We will review borers, pruning, and tell-tale mineral deficiencies. We will also discuss irrigation and some recipes for foliar spraying, as well as briefly discuss other members of the Prunus family, namely nectarines and almonds
About the presenter: Charlotte Trim is based in Lincoln MA and has been growing peaches for a decade in her home garden. Through NOFA's educational program, she learned and started implementing the soil fertility/remineralization protocols taught by Dan Kittredge (Bionutrient Food Association) some 5 years ago. This attention to soil health and plant nutrition has clearly helped with health of the trees, yield, and taste of the peaches. So much so, that Charlotte decided to start a 1 acre peach orchard on town land 2 years ago. Charlotte Trim is also a beekeeper and home gardener/permaculturist.
