'Make a Table = Save a Tree' Woodworking class (2 Day Class)
You will make a table that is yours to keep in this class!
Approximately 200,000,000 wood shipping pallets end up in landfills every year in the US.
Yes, 200 Million! That # is not going to change substantially without working together and going beyond what has already been done.
As a community, we can take a stand for sustainability, and have fun and be creative all at the same time!
As part of the 'Turning Trash to Treasures' Global Community Project, this class shows people how to make a custom table of your choosing made from wood shipping pallet(s)!
That's right, any table of your choosing! Coffee table, Dining room table, Parsons table, Side table, etc...
***THIS CLASS IS A 2 DAY CLASS!!! Day 1 is 6p-10p, Day 2 is 6p-10p***
You will complete the class knowing how to:
- Make your own table to take home with you!
- Deconstruct a wood shipping pallet in a way that does minimal to no damage to the wood.
- Determine and ensure that a Wood Shipping Pallet is not contaminated, is healthy to handle, and appropriate to be used to make furniture with.
- Reassemble the wood into a solid and stable constructed table.
- Finish the wood/ table so it has a long life for you to enjoy it.
- Make a table that is a match for your home - that reflects your style and your expression.
- Be part of a Global Community project that is actually making a difference together, not just lip service.
- Make other projects made of Pallets.
- Did I mention it would be FUN?!?!
- Teach others how to do all of the above!
The class includes all the materials to make a standard size Coffee table. Larger size tables or taller tables may have an additional cost of materials of an additional $50.
You will be communicating with the instructor ahead of time on what you want to create - so we will have the right materials for you to make a table that is exactly what you want to create! Materials to make larger/ taller/ custom size tables may take 1 week to arrive for the class, so sign up as early as possible, and check with the instructor on what you want to create. We will get you what you need!
Every student will have hairpin legs to attach to their table top. The reason we provide these legs is so you don't have to learn the more complex skills at this time to make legs, and you can still complete an awesome looking table! The hairpin legs come in different sizes, so tell the instructor what you want to create when they contact you before the class. Other leg styles are an option - discuss w instructor.
If you do not have a vehicle that can fit your table to take home, we can arrange a delivery for a small charge (The charge depends on the location you need it taken too - discuss with instructor)
For every 7-10 pallets = 1 mature tree is saved! For every 225 pallets = 1 acre of trees are saved!
