Bluegrass Breakout Band NU-BLU
AT CATTLE TRACK THEATER
IN SCOTTSDALE, AZ  THURSDAY, JANUARY 29, 2015

Fronted by an award-winning vocalist, Nu-Blu has been sweeping the nation as their latest album, All the Way, continues its streak in the Top 10 on the Billboard Bluegrass Album chart. R&R Productions along with the Arizona Bluegrass Association are proud to present this special concert at the Cattle Track Arts Compound Theatre in Scottsdale on Thursday, January 29th at 7 PM.

Discounted advance tickets can be purchased online through Brown Paper Tickets. Reserved Gold Circle seating is available. Ticket prices at the door are $25 for Gold Circle and $20 for General seating. Doors open at 6:30 PM. More information about this event is provided through Brown Paper Tickets or call 718-374-1086.

Considering themselves a bluegrass band, Nu-Blu features traditional bluegrass instruments and a frontwoman (Carolyn Routh) whose soaring soprano evokes memories of Alison Krauss, while demonstrating clear originality and emotional elegance. The band performs mostly originals, but has no problem going off the rails with Pat Benatar's "Shadows Of The Night" stripped down, with only two guitars and a mandolin. "We're comfortable in our own skin now," Routh says confidently, "able to step out of those boundaries, spread our wings and say, 'We love this bluegrass, but this is how we're feeling this song.' "

Nu-Blu, based in Siler City, NC, is comprised of lead singer Carolyn Routh, who also handles bass; Levi Austin on vocals and banjo; Austin Koerner, on mandolin; and Daniel Routh as guitarist, vocalist, manager, and tour coordinator. The group brings its lively and entertaining version of Americana-bluegrass music to audiences across the nation. Their sound acknowledges the traditional institutions that have shaped it, yet is innovative and daring enough to bring a fresh sparkle to contemporary acoustic music landing them squarely in the forefront of bands blazing the trail in acoustic entertainment. Influences range from original bluegrass pioneers like Earl Scruggs, Jimmy Martin and Lester Flatt to rock bands of the 1980's, and modern contemporary sounds such as Alison Krauss and Union Station.

The Cattle Track Arts Compound is a one-of-a-kind artist colony located on the historic Cattle Track property located in north Scottsdale. Headed up by owner and arts maven Janie Ellis, the colony offers art exhibitions, artists' studios and work spaces, a colonial antique gallery, Theater performances, as well as limited-edition fine art books beautifully crafted on an old-fashioned letter press. Come out and spend the day browsing and join us for the evening concert.
