Bullygirl
Storyteller Jennifer Jasper pulls no punches in Bullygirl, her latest solo show. Jasper delves into the darkness of adolescence to pick at the bones of her self-esteem. Told in her unique voice mixing pathos and hilarity, Jasper spits out tales of bullies, victims in plaid stretch pants, a shunning, and a young teacher's near breakdown.
Bullygirl is the third in a series of autobiographical solo shows for Ms. Jasper. Her first show I Can Hear You...But I'm Not Listening, premiered in 2012 was met with critical success and has been performed nationally. The show dealt with her struggle as a middle daughter of five girls growing up in Santa Fe, NM. In February of 2014 she premiered It Will Kill Them! for Seattle Gay City Arts inaugural season. Based on the theme "Up Close & Personal" her stories revolved around her coming to terms with her sexual orientation. Jasper completes the series by revisiting a life-changing event in Bullygirl.
