Arabic Music Concert with Elias Lammam Trio
World-renowned Arabic accordionist and singer Elias Lammam of Lebanon and his Trio play popular Arabic music of the mid-20th century, including songs of Om Kolthum, Fairuz, Abdel Halim Hafez, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, the Rahbani brothers, as well as some new original compositions and improvisations. The Trio includes Elias' older brother Antoine Lammam, a highly respected master of the riqq (tambourine), tabla, and various frame drums, as well as veteran jazz bassist Cary Nichols of Santa Cruz who has performed with Mr. Lammam's Santa Cruz Arabic Music Ensemble for many years. Come swing & shimmy with the Elias Lammam Trio, or just sing along your favorite classic Arabic tunes.
There will be social dancing, come prepared. Family-friendly show. All ages welcome. Open seating.
About Elias Lammam:
Recognized as a child prodigy by the age of 12, Elias Lammam began his performing career in Lebanon at the age of 13, performing on the micro-tonal accordion from his early teens until his mid 30's throughout the Middle East and Europe with many of the most popular and highly respected Arab musicians of the 20th century, including one of Om Koltoum's original drummers, popular singers Rageb Alame, the late Wadi el Safi, George Wasouf, Ghassan Saliba, Joseph Noumnoum, and popular Egyptian Shaabi singer Ahmed Adewaya. He completed his music studies at the Lebanese Music Conservatory, majoring in voice and composition, and was the staff composer/arranger for Dubai TV for many years before returning to Lebanon to open his own nightclub. Since immigrating to the U.S. in 1998, he has accompanied various Arab singers on tour in the U.S., including Asala Nasri in 2011, and performed at many world music and accordion festivals. He currently teaches and performs regularly in Santa Cruz and San Jose and at special events throughout the U.S.
