THE WOODSHEDDERS - "The Woodshedders make folks dance deliriously with a multi-genre Americana blitz. They've been knockin' 'em dead at fests nationwide. Their self-released Wildfire (thewoodshedders.com) starts with a John Fogerty base, romps through Levon Helm territory and ends up somewhere between the Mumfords and the Avetts. It rocks with reels, bluegrass, folky melodicism, alternative-traditional (I made that one up but it works with these guys) and the kind of jamband adventurism that leaves no track-all original-unloved."  Mike Greenblatt, StreetNoise

BUMPER JACKSONS - The Bumper Jacksons are a big, fat party. Hot and sweet, their early jazz and country repertoire paints America's story from New Orleans' brothels to Appalachian hollers. Unafraid to scrap together new sounds from forgotten 78's, the Bumper Jacksons boldly and elegantly balance paying homage to the traditions while fashioning their own unique, DIY style. - Recognized as the region's "Best Traditional Folk Band" at the 2013 Washington Area Music Awards!

GRAND OLE' DITCH - Grand Ole' Ditch is creating a presence of their own in the Mid-Atlantic bluegrass scene, bringing you the nickel-wound vibrations you've always longed for, emanating from the pigeon-holed boxes we have all come to know. The songwriting is inventive with caramelized harmonies. The banjo is dazzling. The dobro is silky. The bass gallops along to a freight train guitar, while the fiddle sizzles around a fiery mandolin, and the drummer boy marches them onward. From one era to another, it's music to your ears. Grand Ole' Ditch can be found appearing at many of the region's premier music festivals and venues, touring full steam ahead, with new shows always around the bend.

PLANK STOMPERS -  If sound was butter, and the last 250 years were a biscuit, then Plank Stompers would be the hypothetical knife that smears, scrapes, and swirls all of the sounds from the past together. Pickaxes and pianos, war woops and woodwinds, fiddles sawin' and crows cawin', bass drones and mobile phones, all getting pushed into a greasy noise anthology.
