CMS Opera Event: Bastien und Bastienne & La Canterina
Directors Michael Ashby and Emilily Kosasih invite you to join us for our annual opera event on January 30th and 31st at 7pm. Performed by CMS students, these two operas are sure to delight audiences of all ages. Tickets are available now online and at the front desk at CMS. $15 for Adults and $12 for Seniors and Students.
Bastien und Bastienne by W.A. Mozart
Bastienne, a shepherdess, fears that her Bastien, has forsaken her for another pretty face, and decides to go into the pasture to be comforted by her flock of lambs. On the way she requests the help of Colas, the village soothsayer's magical powers to help win back Bastien.
La Canterina (The Songstress) by F. J. Haydn
Gasparina and her "mother", Apollonia, are visited by Don Ettore, a young man who attempts to woo Gasparina. When Don Pelagio, Gasparina's singing instructor and benefactor, arrives, the women attempt to disguise Don Ettore. Operatic hijinx ensue.
