FoodLab Detroit & Fair Food Network present a Community Report-Out of the Economic Analysis of Detroit's Food System
FoodLab Detroit and the Fair Food Network are excited to invite you to participate in a focus groups to review the recommendations presented in the "Economic Analysis of Detroit's Food System".
In 2013, research and data collection for the study took place with the help of many diverse stakeholders, including FoodLab members. The study documents both opportunities and gaps in the food system, with the purpose of helping to guide and inform future investments.
More than 800 participants identified 11 priorities to increase healthy food access and consumption. The following recommendations were developed in response to stakeholder interviews & research:
1) increase localization 2) strengthen public policy and systems change activities 3) develop career and training opportunities across the food value chain 4) further develop a growing local food ecosystem in the city.
Building a food system that works for all Detroiters will be no small task, but this report is a first step into unlocking the potential of the city's food economy. Please join us as we discuss actions we can take to move the needle on the great opportunities highlighted in the study.
