Concert for Connor: Benefitting The Melanoma Coalition
Connor Cockerham was 20 years old when he lost his battle to Stage 4 metastatic melanoma on January 9, 2014. Since then, friends and family of Connor have established The Melanoma Coalition, a non-profit organization (currently awaiting 501c3 status)in his memory. The Melanoma Coalition's mission is to eradicate the world of melanoma through the support of research and education.
On December 19, a group of friends and family are coming together to remember him and to raise awareness for melanoma and dollars for melanoma research.
Melanoma is the fastest growing cancer in our country. One person dies from this disease every hour of every day. It impacts both males and females, regardless of age or ethnicity. It does not discriminate.
Please join us for an evening of music, provided by talented members of the Santa Cruz Community! Connor was an active member and supporter of the arts, so alumni Craig Petrocelli, Arishna Patel, Katherine Cook and Sierra Farquhar have joined together with Kirby music teacher Drew Lewis to provide an eclectic mix of jazz, pop and folk arrangements. In addition to these performers, Daniel Nemire, a local Santa Cruz musician will be playing an acoustic set with guitar and voice. Additionally, the jazz band Stella by Barlight, featuring Stella D'Oro on vocals, Emily Intersimone on piano, Chris Charman on bass and Olaf Schiappacasse on drums, will be performing a variety of jazz standards.
