"You Are Not Alone" Screening for World AIDS Day
In the documentary, You Are Not Alone, Black gay men break their silence, that taboo in the Black community, rooted in slavery, which says, "you don't talk your business to strangers" to speak out about what caused their descent into depression, contracting and living with HIV, and how they coped - including dealing with the stigma, discrimination and homophobia.

To place the discussion of the connection between mental illness and HIV in context, research suggests that a person who is dealing with depression  whether or not he knows it or acknowledges it, and because he is unconcerned about his wellbeing  is more likely to engage in unsafe sexual behavior, often with the unconscious intent to contract HIV. According to data provided by the NY State Department of Health HIV/AIDS for 2012 (most recently available), of the total 548 HIV cases in the Bronx, 49.3% (270) were Black and 45.8% (251) were Latino, but with the State not breaking out the numbers of men who have sex with men by race/ethnicity, 40.1% (220) contracted HIV.

The CDC suggests that the numbers of new HIV infections has plateaued at an estimated 50,000 per year among young (between 13 and 24)men who have sex with men, who are predominantly Black and Latino.

For WORLD AIDS DAY 2014, DBGM,Inc., together with The Latino Commission on AIDS and the Office of Council Member Ritchie Torres (D-Bx,Dist 15) collaborate to present a screening of the documentary at The Bronx Museum of the Arts.
