Moab Yoga Adventure
Moab is a place for adventurers. Adventurers who are seeking new friends and new insights. But, adventures don't just happen. Adventure is not something that falls into your lap, adventure is something you seek out. Adventure comes when we step out of our comfort zone; when our curiosity beats out complacency, when we stop saying no and start saying yes. Yogis and trail runners are adventurers. Some seek the most advanced poses and the most strenuous races while others seek the challenge of self-inquiry and finding their physical limits. Whether they know it or not, people who practice yoga and those who run know what it's like to step out of their comfort zone. They know what fear, doubt and pain look like and they know what things look like on the other side of fear, doubt and pain.
Join us for a weekend for adventurers. A weekend in Moab, Utah filled with yoga on the red rocks and runs through the desert. Any trip to Moab is likely to be unforgettable but this one will be especially life changing. There is nothing quite like reconnecting to nature while connecting with others trying to do the same thing. Although it's only three days, in a place like Moab that's all you really need to tune back into nature and, in turn, reconnect to yourself.
Each day will start and end with a yoga class designed specifically for runners by Molly Haight. Between yoga classes Moab running pro, Chris Martinez, will lead the group on a series of unforgettable trail runs. Between yoga and runs there will be time to explore and relax. Of course, each day will be filled with healthy and organic meals to keep you energized. You may leave the last day sore and a little sun kissed, but you'll also leave inspired, rejuvenated and ready for your next adventure.
about your guides
Chris Martinez I have been a guide for over two decades in beautiful Moab, UT. Most of my guide experience has been as a whitewater river guide on the Colorado River, down in Cataract Canyon located in the heart of Canyonlands National Park. I have 14 years of trail running experience in the surrounding Moab area. With my love of trail running and guiding it inspired me to create 360 Moab Adventures and the company GrassRoots Events which organizes trail races in Moab.I've been going to ultra running races since the early 80's with my dad when I was 9 years old. I asked my dad to take me on my first run when I was 5 and I knew I wanted to be just like him. I eventually ran my first 10k at the age of 6 years old and been running ever since. My love for Moab trail running has inspired me to show runners the backcountry beauty of my home. I learned a lot about the area through my experience as a river guide. Running with me you get an interp on the geology which Moab is famous for. I can take your imagination back in time to a place where human life did not exist as well as to when the Ancient Pueblos inhabited the Southwest Four Corners. We can actually visit ancient sites along some of our running routes and see dinosaur tracks embedded on the trails we run on. Choosing to join 360 Moab Adventures for a guided trip will allow you to experience our beautiful trails and run away with more knowledge on what you just seen.
Molly Haight I am a running yogi. I probably would not be a runner without yoga. Yoga has taught me the self-awareness and focus I need to make it through long runs, and has given me the strength, flexibility and body awareness necessary to avoid injury and recover quickly. Most importantly, I have found that just like yoga, running is a way to shut up, reground and reconnect to what's important. As a teacher, I strive to help students find this sense of quiet and become more aware and confident in their own bodies. I have completed over 500 hours of training under Stephanie Snyder and continue to study under Stephanie, as well as Annie Carpenter and Jason Crandell. I teach vinyasa based classes with emphasis on alignment, my classes are challenging and sweaty and some may even admit, fun.
about accomodations Located in the depths of Moab, off the beaten path and just far enough from any major roads The Base Camp Adventure Lodge will be our home for the weekend. The lodge has everything you could ask for in a desert oasis. Adventure is always just steps away from the front door; endless trails for hiking, running and biking, rock climbing, the Colorado river, and a whole slew of wildlife. Tom and his pet tortoise, Kobae, call the lodge home and can offer suggestions for things to do in your free time. Both private and public rooms are available.
