Wild Rabbit www.wildrabbitmusic.com Though all four members of Wild Rabbit (formerly Br'er Rabbit) grew up running around wooded areas of the same small town in the farthest Northwest corner of Washington state, brothers Zach and Nathan didn't meet Miranda, the third founding member, until they had all ended up in New York City. This kind of backyard folk seasoned by the edge, polish and fervor of big-city inclinations is at the root of the style they call folk-stomp Americana. The group revamps classic string band instrumentation with homespun percussion and the unique integration of six-string ukulele and cello. With their widely varying influences, three distinct vocal styles and copious amounts of foot-stomping, they demonstrate a sound and presence that's at once original and familiar, appealing to audiences of all generations and genres. Voted best band in their home city of Bellingham, WA for the past two years, they have quickly risen to local renown and are currently touring extensively throughout the U.S. The band recently recorded their first full-length album at the famed Bear Creek Studio (The Lumineers, Fleet Foxes), partially funded by Kickstarter campaign and released independently in March 2014. The Wild North, having debuted on the CMJ Top 200 chart for independent radio nationwide, is available now on iTunes, Spotify, and at wildrabbitmusic.com.
Goodnight, Texas www.hiwearegoodnighttexashowareyou.com The band's contagiously entertaining dynamic at live shows, as well as the album's energy, soul and range from red-blooded, foot-stomping rock 'n' roll to wistful front porch ballads to haunting tales of doomed romance has made devotees out of both music critics and a growing legion of fans spread out across the country. Goodnight, Texas spent the last year and a half out on the road, supporting acts like Shakey Graves and Rusted Root, in addition to playing two sold-out hometown shows at the Fillmore alongside Bombay Bicycle Club and Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers. The band released their sophomore record, Uncle John Farquhar, in the summer of 2014.
The Student Loan www.thestudentloanmusic.com Together for nine years, The Student Loan is a progressive-acoustic newgrass project based out of Portland, Oregon. This innovative quartet's diverse style transcends genre, fusing elements of jazz, blues, rock and jam with traditional bluegrass instrumentation. The band's distinct sound appeals to everyone from the most discerning traditional bluegrass listeners to the most enthusiastic jam band fans. They are known for their fun and funky originals, their quirky covers, and their knack for getting a crowd moving on the dance floor. The band has been featured in prominent Pacific Northwest events like Northwest String Summit and Wintergrass, and international institutions like the Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia and the Cosquin Folk Festival in Cosquin, Argentina. They have played in 17 different countries, including Yemen, Algeria, Burma, Thailand, Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, and Paraguay.
