Before J.S. Bach ever set pen to paper to write his passion stories, Georg Philipp Telemann composed one of the most heart-wrenching tellings of the Crucifixion of Jesus. Using a cast of sixteen soloists, Telemann painted the extraordinary poetry of Barthold Heinrich Brockes using unique combinations of Baroque instruments, vocal ensembles, and choral interpolations.
For anyone who is a lover of the Bach passions or simply seeks a greater understanding of the Passion of the Christ as Holy Week begins, this is an event not to miss!
