DONATIONS Battling with Brandon Zumba Fitness Master Class
Brandon Rojas is a delightfully happy 7 year old boy from Dover Plains,NY. He loves spending time with family and friends, participating in sports, and playing with super hero action figures. He is always smiling and until recently appeared to be a normal healthy child, enjoying all of life's joys to the fullest. This was before the onset of the symptoms leading to Brandon's diagnosis of the devastating disease known as ALD (adrenoleukodystrophy).
This diagnosis came in August 2014, after Brandon began to show decline in his coordination and abilities to focus. ALD is a rare brain disorder that causes damage to the central nervous system by disrupting the growth or maintenance of the myelin sheath that surround the nerve cells that allow us to think and control our muscles. Brandon has the most devastating form of ALD, that which appears in childhood, where normal healthy boys suddenly begin to regress. The damage caused by this disease is progressive, irreversible, and life threatening.
In the days following Brandon's diagnosis, ALD has rapidly inhibited his abilities to walk, talk, eat, and function independently. This disease has robbed Brandon of the many activities he once enjoyed, as he can no longer play sports, roughhouse with friends, or do anything with uninhibited freedom. Because of the progressive nature of his condition, Brandon is required to rely on the constant care and supervision of his parents. While there is currently no cure available for ALD, there are treatments available that possibly slow down the progression of its symptoms. The Rojas family is exploring any possibilities presented by Brandon's doctors, in hopes of saving their son. The treatments, the constant care and concern, and the growing special needs of Brandon, will surely become a massive financial burden. A burden of this magnitude is one which the family should not have to worry about during a crisis like this.
As friends and neighbors of the Rojas family, we are pleading for any and all financial assistance. Our goal is to provide the Rojas family with the security they will need to help their precious son Brandon fight ALD. Time is of the essence because each day produces worsening symptoms and new challenges for Brandon and his family. We thank you wholeheartedly for your support
