MUSIC, MEMORY AND INSPIRATION: A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
Music, Memory and Inspiration:A Night to Remember
As a part of my senior project at Summerfield Waldorf School and Farm, where I am becoming an ambassador for Music and Memory, bringing this program to one of our local senior living residencies for dementia, I am raising money on behalf so that this residency can integrate this life changing program into their facility. Music and Memory is a non-profit organization with a program designed to bring life and joy back into nursing homes with iPod based music favorite playlist. Throughout our lives we embed emotional memory into music making it so those who cannot access their memory directly, can remember once again with the emotional memory attached to the music.
On November 22nd, I will be hosting a grand fundraiser event with live music, a three course meal catered by Backyard (a 2 time Michelin Award winning restaurant) and a very SPECIAL viewing of the life changing, Sundance Film Festival Audience award winning documentary, Alive Inside. I am so excited to bring such the remarkable Sundance Film Festival Audience Award winning movie to our community and it is most definitely a MUST SEE about the epidemic going on in the United States right now with a failing health care system where a escalating 5 million elders suffering from dementia is expected to double within the next decade or two to 10 million elders suffering with dementia and a dropping number of 6,000 geriatrics! It is time for our community to be informed of this epidemic we are facing and the power that music has to bring life and joy back into the generation of our elders. Alive Inside is an inspirational, joyous award winning documentary that reveals how the power of music can triumph where prescription medication is falling very short in our health care system.
