Writing Workout with Jessica Anya Blau
Writing Workout is a class for beginner, intermediate, and even published writers. For some people, the greatest barrier to writing is a simple inability to sit down and do it. Other people struggle with a back-up and/or blockage of ideas. They know they want to write but they don't know how to begin. In The Writing Workout, Jessica Anya Blau will get you in your seat where you will be led through a series of fast-paced, high-energy writing exercises. Even the most firmly stuck writer will be able to unleash his or her creative forces in this quick, fun, free-thinking class. Exercises can be used by fiction or non-fiction writers, memoirists and poets. Wear comfortable clothes and bring your computer or paper and pen.

Jessica Anya Blau's newest novel, The Wonder Bread Summer was picked for CNN's summer reading list, NPR's summer reading list, Vanity Fair's summer reads, and Oprah Book Club's summer reading list. Her novel, Drinking Closer to Home was featured in Target stores as a "Breakout Book" and made many Best Books of the Year lists. Jessica's first novel, The Summer of Naked Swim Parties was a national bestseller and was picked as a Best Summer Book by the Today Show, the New York Post and New York Magazine.  The San Francisco Chronicle and other newspapers chose it as one of the Best Books of the Year. The Summer of Naked Swim Parties and The Wonder Bread Summer have both been optioned for film and are currently in preproduction.

How to Write Like I Do is a new writing workshop series for adults, brought to you by the good people at 826DC. Looking for a way to kick-start your writing? Interested in continuing an old project that's fallen by the wayside? We hope to bring the same kind of enthralling and effective workshops to the older set as we've been known to deliver to the younger. All ticket proceeds go to supporting the free creative and expository writing programs for kids offered by 826DC.
