Buffalo, NY

Cooking competitions are all the rage both on television and at culinary events across the country. Done correctly these competitions can be as exciting as any sporting event. With that in mind, we welcome you to Nickel City Chef, Western New Yorks best live cooking competition featuring top chefs from our region, local ingredients and feisty challengers.

Nickel City Chef pits two chefs against one another in a culinary fete not unlike the popular television show Iron Chef America. At each event, one of our four Nickel City Chefs faces a qualified challenger in a race to complete three technically perfect, innovative dishes featuring the secret ingredient. Because of our dedication to our region, Nickel City Chefs secret ingredient is always an item that it grown or produced in Western New York. A panel of qualified judges rates each chefs offerings using a scoring method that accounts for skill, flavor and creativity.

This exciting and unique series takes place inside one of Buffalos best kept secrets--a fully restored turn-of-the-century warehouse on Buffalos emerging West Side. Formerly a wood burning stove company, this location is now home to Artisan Kitchens and Baths, Western New Yorks premier appliance retailer. Its second floor--an expansive room with exposed brick walls, high-beamed ceilings and lovingly restored wood flooring--is completely outfitted with two side-by-side $100,000 competition-worthy kitchens.

Attendees at each NCC event watch the battle unfold live while sampling premium catered snacks and enjoying a cash wine and beer bar. The audiences ability to immerse themselves in the event is enhanced by the 12 flat panel televisions that hang throughout the location, providing close-ups of both chefs stoves and work spaces. Extra points are awarded to the chef that earns the respect of the audience.
