GUTENBERG! THE MUSICAL!
Cabaret Space, Temple of Music and Art Tucson, AZ
Featuring Jacob Brown and Jay C. Cotner, the comedy team from JEWTOPIA. Directed by Annette Hillman, with Music Direction by Khris Dodge. In this musical spoof, Bud and Doug, aspiring playwrights, present an audition for potential backers for their sensational musical about printing press inventor Johann Gutenberg. Bud and Doug sing all the songs and play all the parts using a "cloakroom full of hats," hoping that one of the attending producers will give them a Broadway contract. Instead of actually being the story of Johann Gutenberg, it is the story of Bud and Doug. They think they have written the best musical ever. They are innocent but passionate (and broke), and they play all the parts using caps with the names of the characters written on them.
Note: The Cabaret Space at the Temple tends to be quite chilly, so come equipped with a warm sweater or jacket!
