FREEPLAY: Homo Sapiens Interruptus + Buddy (double-bill)
Homo Sapiens Interruptus is Carlos Dengler's autobiographical one-man show exploring topics such as paleoanthropology, technology, sex, and his previous career as bassist of Interpol. Essentially a half-hour monologue with Mr. Dengler seated behind a desk riffing between topics, the work is a minimally set exposition on modern-day capitalistic malaise and torpor, with his music career and sociological observations serving as the fuel for his verbal excursions into pornography, digital culture, fame, and biology. Written and performed by Carlos Dengler; directed by Scott Illingworth.
Meet a girl named Buddy who leads a very entertaining and dazzling life without ever having to leave her own room. Luckily, she has lots of company in there. Written and performed by Morgan Everitt; Directed by Matt Dickson.
