Comedy Returns to El Rio! (a Kung Pao Kosher Comedy production)
Produced and MC'ed by comedian/comedy producer, Lisa Geduldig, (Kung Pao Kosher Comedy who strives to produce multicultural, multi-everything comedy shows with the variety of shows she produces each year (Kung Pao Kosher Comedy, Funny Girlz, The Color of Funny).
Geduldig created Comedy Returns to El Rio last year in honor of her beginning her stand up career at the club, El Rio, in San Francisco's Mission District 20 years ago last summer.
Comedy Returns to El Rio takes place the 2nd Monday of every month.
This month's show features:
The one and only Marga Gomez; Gay Muslim comic, Ali Mafi, drag persona Pippi Lovestocking, Best of the Fringe winner, Alicia Dattner, your hostess, & Lisa Geduldig.
MARGA GOMEZ was voted "Best Comedian 2009 and 2008" in the SF Bay Guardian readers' poll and was named one of "100 Women We Love 2009" by GONYC Magazine. Marga's TV appearances include LOGO'S "One Night Stand-Up." She performs all over the nation and internationally.
ALI MAFI is a gay Muslim comic who was born in Iran and raised in Novato. The 24 year old is a rising star on the comedian scene. His LOGO TV Network Special aired last June; he has been on tour opening for Aisha Tyler all over the US; and he been chronicled on CNN for his work with the Axis of Evil Comedy Tour. He is about to perform on his first gay cruise.
PIPPI LOVESTOCKING is a staple on the Bay Area comedy scene. She has also appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and on Last Comic Standing.
ALICIA DATTNER's comedy specialty is irreverent insight into the human condition. She has been performing stand up for over ten years, sharing the stage with many talented comics including Arj Barker and Amy Stiller. Alicia has performed at Cobb's, The Punchline, The Knitting Factory in Hollywood, and Gotham Comedy Club in NY. Her one-woman-show, "The Punchline" recently won "Best of the Fringe" in the San Francisco Fringe Festival. www.aliciadattner.com
