Changing the World, One Heart at a Time
Christ Episcopal Church Portsmouth, NH
Women Singing OUT! begins its eighth season with a selection of music that is rich, diverse and inspiring. The power of singing is reflected in the works of Ysaye Barnwell of Sweet Honey In the Rock, Holly Near, Ruth Huber, and words of African-American poet Lucille Clifton.
From a more standard repertoire, we sing "Choose Something Like a Star" Randall Thompson's setting of the Robert Frost poem. Pablo Casals, best known as a cellist, created a beautiful Latin piece called "Nigra Sum" which translated means "I am black and beautiful."
Note: Don't miss the beautiful WSO quilt raffle lovingly made by our members!
