The OVATION Awards started five years ago as a way to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding musical theatre production in the lower mainland both professional and amateur.
Nominees are chosen by artistic peers, then the general public are invited to participate in a popular vote then awards are presented at a public awards presentation/show.
The 2010 OVATION! Awards celebrating the musicals of 2009 will be held at the Vancouver Academy of Music on Sunday January 31st. There is a pre-show reception beginning at 6PM followed by the awards show featuring music and performances from most of the 09 musicals at 7PM.
The overall goal is promotion of community spirit, and recognition of the many people that make up the musical theatre community in the lower mainland.
The OVATION! Awards are presented by APPLAUSE! Musicals Society.
Note: Parking is FREE. There will be a cash bar during the pre-show reception and also intermission.
