Village Books Presents A Special Evening with Graham Kerr
Author and one time television culinary celebrity Graham Kerr (former Galloping Gourmet) will, with his Producer/Poet Wife Treena and Village Books, launch a new literary project, Flash of Silver, in The Crystal Ballroom of the Leopold on Thurs., Dec. 11, 2014 at 6:30pm.
Flash Of Silver: The Leap That Changed My World is an innovative e-serial book series that combines memoir with an extended metaphor comparing Graham and Treena's love story of more than seventy years with that of a pair of Wild Pacific Chinook salmon. The work follows these remarkable "connected" stories through sixty-four "Rites of Passage" delivered electronically to readers on a once-per-week basis over fifteen months. The serial is timed to allow for a "Reflective Readers Club" to consider their own life journey with special emphasis upon ecology, food, faith, and especially how to finish well so that our respective species may survive.
Each Attendee Will Receive:
-A special commemorative "Taste" of the series in a signed and numbered booklet as an exclusive limited collectors edition.
-A copy of The Gathering Place, Graham Kerr's full color hardcover book on home entertaining. Autographed and dated by Graham.
-Light food and non-alcoholic beverages including a special festive punch by Graham.
-Songs of the Salish Sea, Salmon and Orca performed by local singer/songwriter Dana Lyons.

At the launch evening Graham will explain how Flash of Silver is more than a memoir and a metaphor. It is his great hope that, by its very method of distribution, it can help to slow our lives down, just a bit. The three books combined will take 15 months to read or listen to as a weekly serial, coming to electronic devices as a personal communication that facilitates an individual response through a special readers club.
