Winter Solstice in the Northlands
Nordic roots performance artist and musician Kari Tauring has been producing seasonal shows that challenge traditions while supporting community and celebration since 1999. This Winter Solstice she will begin with the darkness preceding creation in a Norse mythic context by putting chant and sound to the film "Slice" by Christopher Powers. You will follow her journey through avalanche and transformation with the premiere of her epic work "Skuld of Hogganvik" created with Drew Miller and performed as runedance. Then retreat to the barn where Carol Sersland and Kari will explore the importance of the "other-world" creatures protecting us during the Winter months. Finally, join Kari and Stavers in the House for a Lithuanian sun goddess chant and spiral dance to waken the light within ourselves, our community and the Northern Hemisphere!
