When Lucy Merrick (Jamie Frevele) a recent college graduate, is assigned to write a feature in order to get a lucrative staff job at her magazine internship, she goes back to Long Island looking to reintegrate herself with her old high-school friends and to write an article about the punk rock sub-culture they created in a once-booming local music scene. What she finds instead are her friends struggling with the weight of their âquarter-life crisesâ: 30-year-olds still throwing parties at their motherâs houses, bands/friendships on the verge of collapse, and nostalgia for days long-gone. The Freaks, Nerds & Romantics follows Dean Bishoff (Michael Koscik) and Scott Flynn (Sean King) members of the melodic punk band CON.SPIRE, and chronicles their final attempt at transcending the restrictions put on them both by themselves and their environment and the decision whether to keep following their dreams as a band or break up and conform to the real world. Features music and appearances by The Bouncing Souls and Alkaline Trio.
