Waking Up in California & Sex Ed
Stage Left Studio New York, NY
WAKING UP IN CALIFORNIA, written and performed by Alithea Howes. In Alithea Howes' new one woman show, a New York performance artist returns to her home town to face the person that she used to be and the expectations she failed to meet.
In scenes both real and imagined she confronts her high school teachers, her ex-boyfriend, and her 17-year-old self, all of whom expected her to be famous by now.
Along the way she realizes that it's better to be happy than to be famous, better to be working than to be promising, and that it's not so bad being from California, as long as she doesn't have to stay there.
AND A SPECIAL OPENING ACT - SEX ED, written and performed by Jill Melanie Wirth and David Wirth, is a short and sassy play ... a couple experiencing sexual difficulties unexpectedly discovers the recipe for great sex.
