5th Annual Bilicious Boston Show
Playfully mixing serious issues with entertainment, this thought-provoking bisexual-themed multimedia variety show is open to theatergoers of all persuasions! Audience interaction is encouraged during a Q&A discussionwith the cast immediately following the performance.
Returning to the Bilicious stage with brand new material: TIGGY UPLAND (Bisexual Resource Center advice columnist), LAURIE WOLFE (writer/poet), MICHAEL MONROE (slam poet). Introducing to the Bilicious stage: HUGO HEPFINGER (music producer/songwriter) and MIMI GONZALEZ (comedian). Personal video interviews by producer/filmmaker SUSANNAH LAYTON will introduce the cast members on stage before their performance.
FEATURING:
TIGGY UPLAND, the Wild Deuce, is the advice columnist for the Bisexual Resource Center. Found abandoned as a baby in a hot air balloon basket in Truth or Consequences, NM, Tiggy grew up working in her adoptive family's hydrotherapy business and exploring her own fluidity. She rode the rails all over the country, selling her family's homemade panacea and giving advice to the friends she met along the way, likely solicited because she was the only hobo in a vintage day dress and full make-up. She prefers to think of herself as 1950s style on 1960s drugs.
LAURIE WOLFE is an actor, writer, poet, performer, social activist, pet healer, speaker, trainer, and fundraiser. Laurie has performed in Bilicious Boston, The Moth, Boundless--Off Label, Boundless--Body Verse, and The Vagina Monologues by Vday Boston. She has also emceed Trew Tales, Keshet's LGBTQ/Jewish Open Mic featuring stories, music and art about our gender journeys.
HUGO HEPFINGER Luci von Smörgås is a virtual artist and alter-ego of songwriter/producer Hugo Hepfinger (a.k.a FunckFreq on SoundCloud). She/he lives in the transgender community of Cataclysm in Second Life. Luci's music is very danceable with styles ranging from techno swing to EDM and often includes the fusion of other styles. Her lyrics are sometimes about LGBT issues but usually light hearted, fun and sexy. Hugo Hepfinger lives and works in Lund, Sweden (real life) composing and producing music for film, television and business applications as well as his own music projects. Hugo also films machinima in Second Life, editing and doing post-production to create music videos.
MIMI GONZALEZ has been rocking the mic at Prides and protests to cruises and festivals since before being gay was spelled with three letters. She welcomes everyone in the acronym of GLBTE(etc) through a fierce politics of inclusion. Her life-long agitation and activism is expressed in print through queer magazines and as a stand-up comedy on nationally televised shows on Logo and Comedy Central. When she's not touring or entertaining on an Olivia event, she's working P'town. Provincetown Magazine says she's "Funny, sexy, sharp, positiveMimi Gonzalez is a comic, life-affirming force."
MICHAEL MONROE found slam by being dragged to "some sort of poetry thing" one winter's night in 2008, and boy did he think it would be the World's Worst Poetry Ever. But after one hit of high-caliber spoken word performance he immediately decided his pursuits as a proficient fire-spinner, jazz pianist and juggler were clearly boring, and he's worked to refine his writing and performance skills ever since. He regularly features throughout New England, has been the Development Director for the wildly successful 2011 & 2013 National Poetry Slams, co-runs the infamous 365 Challenge Blog, and was a member of the 2012 Mill City Slam Team.
SUSANNAH LAYTON is a filmmaker and the founder, producer/director of Bilicious Productions. Born and raised in England to an international family of musicians and performers, Susannah developed her passion for the visual and performing arts from an early age.She created the Bilicious Show while living in San Francisco for the National Queer Arts Festival and brought the show with her to Boston in 2010. Susannah's video interviews with the Bilicious cast members are featured each year as part of the show. She is the recipient of a "Creating Queer Community" grant from the Queer Cultural Center and an "Unsung Hero" award from the Bisexual Resource Center, for her outstanding behind-the scenes work within and for the bisexual community.
