Under the Kampong Moon
Balinese Traditional Music, Dance and Shadow Theater at The Kampong.
Experience the mystery and magic of a tropical evening at The Kampong, along with the exotic sounds and smells of Bali.
Balinese master artist Gusti Sudarta (Indonesian National Conservatory) directs an evening of male masked dance, female temple dance, traditional gamelan music and Balinese shadow theater. This family-friendly performance includes leading Balinese and American performers and concludes by inviting the audience to try the instruments and shadow puppets for themselves.
Light Indonesian tapas available for purchase by Krakatoa Indonesian Cuisine.
Performances December Monday 12/29, Tuesday 12/30 January Thursday 1/1, Friday 1/2 Saturday 1/3- Special Full Moon Performance
Gates open at 5 pm, performance begins at 6:30 pm.
Workshops Bamboo Instrument Making - create musical instruments from bamboo harvested from The Kampong's collection. Tuesday, Dec. 30 - 2 pm. $20 adults/$5 children Limited to 20 participants.
Shadow Puppet Workshop for Kids- Learn the art of shadow puppetry from master puppeteer Gusti Sudarta. Friday, Jan. 2 - 2 pm $5 children (ages 4-12 yrs)Limited to 20 participants.
Parking Complimentary parking available- first driveway directly to the north of The Kampong entrance.
