Organist Katya Kolesnikova in Recital

Katya Kolesnikova, organist at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley, shares some of her favorite pieces by Bach, Vivaldi, Buxtehude, Lefébure-Wély, Heaps, and Mussorgsky.

Katya was born in Russia, and began her musical studies at the age of seven. She graduated from Conservatory with honors, earning advanced degrees in Piano, Chamber Music, Organ and Musical Science. She continued her studies at the Ecumenical Institute of Church Music at the Hochschule Der Kunste in Berlin, Germany, where she received a degree in Organ Performance and started working as a church organist.
Since moving to Northern California, she has performed solo recitals on trucker organs by M.Yokota, Rosales and Bigelow, and for services at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption and Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Grass Valley, First Presbyterian Church in Roseville, and the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento.
Katya is an active member of the American Guild of Organists, and has served on the board of its San Francisco Chapter.
