British Reggae Pioneers Black Slate Live At Rossi's 1906 Smokehouse & Dancehall
Hailing from London, England, Black Slate are forerunners of The British Reggae scene of the 1970's and 80's, paving the way for the likes of English reggae acts such as Steel Pulse, UB40, Maxi Priest, Aswad, Pato Banton and more. Formed in London in 1974 by musicians from England, Jamaica, and Anguilla, with hits like Mind Your Motion, Sticksman and Amigo, which reached the Top Ten Singles Charts, their unique Roots, Dub and Lovers Rock Reggae sound reflected the tumultuous social, cultural and political events and changes going on in the UK. After numerous international hits and tours in the 80's, Black Slate went on a lengthy hiatus. The band re-emerged strong in 2014 with their appearance at the internationally renowned Sierra Nevada World Music Festival (SNWMF) in California to wide acclaim and reviews. Original founders Anthony "Pure Silk" Brightly, Desmond Mahoney, and Chris "Music House" Hanson with vocalist Jesse Brade are embarking on Black Slate's first USA tour. The tour begins in Sonoma, California at the brand new Rossi's 1906 (formerly Little Switzerland) for their inaugural World of Reggae At Rossi's event. Kicking off the night at Rossi's 1906 are Bay Area bands Midnight Sun Massive plus HoneyRose and Lady C, backed by The Visionaries. An evening of Reggae entertainment that is not to be missed!
