Dave King Take-over feat. Halloween, Alaska with special guest Lateduster
Acclaimed drummer/composer Dave King has been a vital musical force over the past two decades, within and well beyond his Twin Cities home base. Following a run of international tour dates to support Inevitable Western, the latest album from iconoclastic jazz trio The Bad Plus, King will spend the bulk of his Thanksgiving break at Minneapolis music haven Icehouse, where he'll play with four different bands over three nights. This multi-show "takeover" will include performances by groups that have been scarce on local stages over the past several years, plus a rare reunion gig by '00s instrumental group Lateduster and an album release party for ascendant local quintet Red Daughters. Sponsored by 89.3 The Current.
Modernist pop vets Halloween, Alaska (James Diers, Jacob Hanson, King, Bill Shaw) emerge from a lengthy live hiatus as they near completion their fifth album and prep for a vinyl reissue of their self-titled debut. This welcome return to Icehouse also features a rare appearance by Lateduster, an accomplished instrumental group featuring original members Andrew Broder, Martin Dosh, J.G. Everest, and Brian Olson.
