Comedy Returns to El Rio! (a Kung Pao Kosher Comedy production)
Comedian/comedy producer, Lisa Geduldig, (Kung Pao Kosher Comedy) began her stand up comedy career 20 years ago this July at El Rio in San Francisco's Mission District. In celebration of that anniversary, she is bringing comedy back to El Rio, the club that first put her onstage. Comedy Returns to El Rio began this May.

Geduldig strives to produce multicultural, multi-everything comedy shows with the variety of shows she produces each year (Kung Pao Kosher Comedy, Funny Girlz, The Color of Funny). The shows are out of the norm, the line-ups are always a diverse cultural, gender, and sexual orientation mix, and her comedy productions showcase some of the funniest and smartest stand up comics from San Francisco and beyond.

This month's show features: James Judd, Yayne Abeba, Ross Turner, Sammy Obeid, Lisa Geduldig, and a Special Guest

JAMES JUDD is a local writer and performer most recently seen in "James Judd's Whoop Click!" at the Dark Room Theater and in three separate productions of "7 SINS" at the Exit Theatre and Theatre Rhino.  7 SINS has been produced at the Edinburgh Festival as well as the Orlando, Hamilton, London, Winnipeg, Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, and Washington D.C. Fringe Festivals; regionally in California, New York, Massachusetts, Delaware, New Hampshire, and Vermont.  James is an entertainer on the Atlantis Events cruises where he most recently performed on a bill featuring Chita Rivera, Bruce Villanch, and Patti Lupone.  He is an alumni of The Groundlings Theater in LA where he performed with fellow and much more famous alumni such as Kathy Griffin and Lisa Kudrow. He was a member of the New Faces at the Hollywood Improv and a regular performer at Improv clubs on both coasts.  He has appeared on A&E's  Evening at the Improv, Comedy on the Road, and Star Search.

YAYNE ABEBA is a native San Franciscan of Ethiopian descent. She began studying acting at the Jean Shelton Actor's Lab in 1995 and was bitten by the comedy bug four years later at The Luggage Store. Realizing that there was no cure, she accepted her fate and has since been touted as one of San Francisco's up and coming comedians. Her style is fresh, innovative, cutting edge and just damn funny. She won The 2002 Russian River Comedy Competition and competed in several San Francisco International Comedy Competitions as well as the Seattle Comedy Competition.

ROSS TURNER is an actor and comedian based in Oakland. He recently returned from the Vancouver Comedy Festival and has also appeared numerous times at San Francisco SketchFest, SF Theater Festival, and the SF International Comedy Festival. In frequent demand as a corporate entertainer, Ross has written and performed custom material for Comcast, Cisco Systems, Autodesk, San Jose Mercury News, and 7-Eleven. Home shopping addicts have seen him hawking drills and routers on QVC's Craftsman Workshop. Look for Ross on KPIX Channel 5s Mamas Show and starring in the independent feature film "Everything Must Go" (no, not the one with Will Ferrell); both in early 2010.

SAMMY OBEID is a native to the Bay Area and prefers living nowhere else, so long as he only has a bike.  Within his first year in comedy he won first place in the 2008 Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Competition, and within his first year and a half he won first place in the 2008 San Jose Improv Comedy Competition and placed 2nd in Wild 94.9's Best Comic Standing Competition. He is a member of the CoExist Comedy Tour and performs for audiences all over the nation.  He has opened for Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, and Russell Peters.  Sammy graduated from UC Berkeleys Haas School of Business while simultaneously earning a degree in Applied Mathematics with an emphasis in Probability Theory.

LISA GEDULDIG is the creator, producer, & MC of a variety of annual comedy shows: Kung Pao Kosher Comedy; The George Bush Going Away Party; Funny Girlz; A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar; The Color of Funny; Comedy Returns to El; Rio, Cafe con Comedy; Charo.
