The Magic Kente Cloth
The Dance Institute of Washington founder and Artistic Director Fabian Barnes is proud to present a new and wonderful collage of music and dance for the holiday season. Directed by our own Ralph Glenmore, a former Ailey dancer and recent Resident Dance Supervisor of The Lion King, Los Angeles, The Magic Kente Cloth features the Dance Institute's Youth Ensemble, students from the DIW Pre-Professional Program, and other guests.
The story is a journey of four young sisters through the colorful landscape of imagination. Travel with them through the singing desert, the land of the drums, the nocturnes and the waters of hypnotic beauty, to obtain a magic Kente cloth for the Princess Tamiryn on her special day.
