US debut of the Romani (gypsy) trumpet player Neshat Zekirov
and NY's own Zlatne Uste Brass Band
A trumpet player from the rich tradition of Macedonian Romani brass, Neshat is a consummate musician whose expressive improvisations reflect the fascinating flavors of gypsy music in the Balkans. Heavyweights Zlatne Uste Brass Band have been around for over a decade having played with Saban Bajramovic, Esma Redzepova and many other legendary Roma musicians from Eastern Europe. The foremost presenters of traditional Balkan dance music in the US, Zlatne Uste's repertoire spans the most important stops in the traditional music of the Balkans - Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Gypsy traditions. http://www.zlatneuste.org
