An Evening with David Fanning: Frontline Behind the Scenes
Coming Thursday, November 6 at 7:30pm, USM's Hannaford Hall Maine Jewish Film Festival and MPBN present "An Evening with David Fanning: FRONTLINE Behind the Scenes"
The PBS series FRONTLINE is America's premier investigative documentary series, with more than 50 Emmy Awards to its credit, on the air since 1983. On Thursday, November 6 at 7:30pm MJFF and MPBN will present "An Evening with David Fanning", Executive Producer of FRONTLINE. MPBN Radio's Irwin Gratz will interview Fanning on-stage at Hannaford Hall, discussing FRONTLINE's history and the challenges in journalism today, showing highlights from some of the most noteworthy films and sharing previews of upcoming episodes. FRONTLINE recently won 4 more Emmy Awards in the News and Documentary category, adding to the 16 Peabody and 29 duPont-Columbia awards the series has previously received. FRONTLINE episodes frequently themselves make headline news - on topics ranging from brain injury in the NFL to the Syrian insurgency, from the Fukushima meltdown to "Dark Money" in campaign finance.
In 2013, Fanning was honored by the National Academy for Television Arts and Sciences with its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Emmy, awarded "for his remarkable career, and for FRONTLINE's decades-long commitment to journalistic excellence, integrity, and independence."
Tickets available from Brown Paper Tickets starting October 15. All proceeds benefit MJFF. Tickets are $10, $8 for seniors, students free
