A man, while hunting a wolf in a sinister forest, is startled by the sound of guns firing. Suddenly, there are people running, one of whom, a small boy, gets lost. Even the wolves are overwhelmed by a sense of the impending danger.
Kłusownik staje oko w oko z wytropionym wilkiem, gdy nagle słyszy wystrzały z broni. Mężczyzna dostrzega uciekających, wystraszonych ludzi. Tymczasem w lesie gubi się jeden z biegnących - mały chłopiec. Nawet wilki przeczuwają nadciągające niebezpieczeństwo.

Anna jest nowicjuszką, sierotą wychowywaną w zakonie. Przed złożeniem ślubów musi poznać Wandę, swoją jedyną żyjącą krewną. Wanda mówi dziewczynie, że jest Żydówką. Obie wyruszają w podróż która ma im pomóc nie tylko w poznaniu tragicznej historii ich rodziny, ale i prawdy o tym kim są.
Anna is a novicean orphan brought up in a convent. Before taking her vows she is determined to meet Wanda, her only living relative. Wanda tells the girl that she is Jewish. With this new revelation Anna sets off on a journey with Wanda to discover the tragic history of their family, as well as to understand who they really are.
