Salem Playback at the Cyrus Reed Theater!
Playback is a unique form of non-scripted theatre based on stories told by audience members. Real life stories are shared and then enacted on the spot by a team of actors, dancers and musicians. Stories range from childhood memories, the day-to-day, or traumatic, life-changing events. The tone can be comic or tragic, it all depends on the audience. Salem Playback honors stories, strengthens the community and provides therapeutic release.
Inspired by the experimental theater movement, psychodrama and the oral tradition of indigenous cultures, Playback Theatre was created in New York in the 1970s by Jonathan Fox, Jo Salas and the original PT Company. The method is now practiced across the world in sixty countries as a way of entertainment and healing.
Celebrate Salem Playback's performance in their new space at the Cyrus Reed Theater in the Reed Opera House. Tickets are $10 by advance sale at www.salemplayback.org or $12 at the door. The performance begins at 7:30 PM.
