Description
"Funkadesi knows how to get the crowd fired up!  There's a lot of funk in that desi!" - President Barack Obama ---

Chicago, Friday December 11th  -- Funkadesi, Chicago's 6-time award-winning intercultural band will perform their dynamic blend of Indo-Afro-Caribbean music at Logan Square Auditorium.  The concert is a public event that marks the celebration of their 13 years of being together.  The show is being presented by Sound Culture, a prominent world music promotion company, and will also feature DJ Jimmy Singh, who spins bhangra and global grooves, as well as guest artists and a global fair trade market.

Funkadesi proudly hails from Chicago, representing the diverse multi-ethnic communities within the city.  What distinguishes Funkadesi as a group is each band members unique and uncompromised cultural/musical contribution merging to create one unifying sound and vision.  The band is ideally suited for corporate events, special events, and fundraisers (see 2nd page for highlighted events and press quotes).  Funkadesis one-world sound, roots-watering vision, and positive vibe make the band a unique and compelling musical force.

Founder and bassist/sitarist Rahul Sharma states I cant believe its been 10 years.  Im proud of the fact that weve stuck it out this long as an independent Chicago band.  Sharma also reflects on the closeness of the band:  We emanate a family vibe  onstage and off.  Quite simply, we love to play music, we love to be together in front of appreciative fans, and we continue to feed off each others energy.

NOTE: No one under 21 years old will be admitted.
