Emperor Norton the Musical
Shelton Theater San Francisco, CA
Emperor Norton the Musical tells the rollicking true story of Joshua Norton who, in 1859, went "a little bit crazy" and proclaimed himself Emperor of the United States! This being San Francisco, the motley denizens of the Barbary Coast -- dogs Bummer & Lazarus, dance hall girls Lola Montez, Galloping Cow & Dancing Heifer, pickpocket Little Lost Chicken, the writer Mark Twain, and more -- supported Emperor Norton in his delusion. He became the city's most beloved eccentric, as well as a force for change and goodwill. A genuine slice of SF history!
Note: A musical for the whole family (with mild burlesque elements) that portrays a colorful, wild period in San Francisco history.
