| Description |
Actor's Boot Camp with Instructor David Skibbins - A Gualala Arts Workshop on Mondays, March 1 - April 12, 2010, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., plus two 2-hour one-on-one coaching sessions.
This seven week workshop is designed to take your acting skills to a new level. Using techniques from modern acting guides, (Mona Yakim, Harold Guskin, Eric Morris) we will explore how to live your character, improvising their essence while staying true to the lines of the play. In-class work combined with two intensive one-on-one private sessions to help you deepen your work as an actor.
David Skibbins was a theater and film major in college, and has starred in many local dramatic and musical productions. He was Assistant Director for Diary of Anne Frank and Steel Magnolias and will be directing the summer 2010 drama for Art Center Theater.
He was an associate professor for a decade, teaching in three Bay Area universities. He is passionate about getting out of your head and into the soul of your character before stepping onto the stage to perform.
Materials: Nothing, except commitment to attend entire 7 weeks. *This workshop is for experienced actors only who have already taken an introductory acting class and been in at least one play presented to the general public.
Tuition: $125 members of Gualala Arts; $150 non-members.
Register by: February 15, 2010.
