Barbara Duffy & Company "Stages"
Auburn Performing Arts Center Auburn, WA
Barbara Duffy amazes audiences around the world with her highly sophisticated approach to music and ... jazzy, expressionistic moves (Chicago Sun Times). According to the late Gregory Hines, Barbara Duffy is one of the most inventive tappers around. As one of the few all-women tap companies, Barbara Duffy & Company has created Stages not only as a vehicle to do what they do best, but to express new tap forms and connect to a broader audience. Stages incorporates song, dance, dialogue and improvisation into an evening of high energy entertainment, paying tribute to the masters who shaped the tap dance as an art form, providing a unique perspective on its future, and celebrating life through the universal power of rhythm. With emotionally driven choreography and stylistic variety, the narrative of Stages touches upon lifes little everyday challenges such as love, friendship, self-doubt and the courage to express one's true identity.
