Voyages and Passages
Held in the Athenaeum's intimate performance space, the Philharmonic's November concert channels many moods from serious to humorous, with life Voyages and stories of transporting Passages. Beginning with Mozart's youthful music, and settling into Pulitzer Prize winner John Corigliano's Voyage for Strings, the Philharmonic brings to life Prokofieff's story of a fictitious soldier, Richard Strauss's epic tone poem, Death and Transfiguration and Johann's Strauss's galloping hunting polka. The Philharmonic continues to provide a unique presentational style with works from the core of orchestra music to its fringe, all displayed with plenty of explanation in order to connect with every audience member.
