December 5, 2009 The Art of the Opposite: 10-Noon Character Creation Lab: 1-5PM
Description
You can register for workshops individually, or both for a special price of $50!

The Art of the Opposite ($25)
Youre just offstage, about to enter a scene, when you freeze and think  How should I come in? What sort of character should I be? This quick and dirty 2-hour workshop will help you learn to instantaneously choose and create a character that contrasts your scene partner, enriching the scene and making it more interesting to watch. You dont need to fully develop your character offstage (theres not time!), but instead, you can enter at the moment you are needed, and within a few seconds have a base character that can carry you through the rest of the scene!

Character Creation Lab ($35)
Stop playing yourself on stage! This 4-hour intensive will take you deeper into the nuts and bolts of character creation. Youll learn the internal mental and external physical techniques to develop rich characters. The key is to develop sustainable characters that can surprise your short-form audience members, as well as carry you through a 90-minute long-form. Youll walk away with a worksheet to help you develop a few key characters for your future improv work.

NOTE: No one under 18 years old will be admitted.
