BACH presents A Baroque Christmas
Holy Cross Catholic Church Champaign, IL
Baroque Artists of Champaign-Urbana (BACH) present A Baroque Christmas. BACH once again returns to the magnificent acoustics of Holy Cross for a celebration of Baroque Christmas music. This year, we feature the charming Midnight Mass by 17th-century French composer Marc-Antoine Charpentier, a gentle setting of the mass text that echoes with familiar French noels and organ interludes. Opening the concert will be the University High School Madrigals, clad in Elizabethan costumes, with a prelude of traditional carols and Christmas favorites. And, as is tradition, the audience will be invited to raise their voices and join in the singing of French and German carols to culminate this joyous holiday celebration.
