Arabic Cooking and Baking Series: Helou for the Holidays, Part II
ABOUT
In this series, participants will be invited on a hands-on culinary journey through the Arab world, discovering the history, culture, and science behind some of the Arab world's most essential dishes and seizing the opportunity to produce them with your own hands. From essential baking and hospitality in the Levant, to traditional Palestinian dishes, from the sweet and savory flavors of Morocco, to festive holiday treats, this class series will provide participants with the tools and skills to make these delicious foods from scratch right at home!
In this final holiday baking class, participants will learn to make ma'amoul, beautiful semolina flour cookies filled with crushed nuts or dates. Ma'amoul are traditional treats for the holidays and can be served at holiday parties or given as gifts.

OUR INSTRUCTOR: Reem Assil
Reem is a Palestinian Syrian baker and social justice activist residing in Oakland, CA. After a decade of working as a community and labor organizer, Reem decided to pursue her passion in baking, working in dessert and pastry catering and as an owner and baker at one of the Bay Area's most esteemed cooperative bakeries, Arizmendi Bakery & Pizzeria. Her passion for food, culture and community has led her to Reem's, a bakery concept that celebrates Arab culture and cuisine through the provision of breads and pastries from the Levantine region of the Arab world.

*ACCC member rates valid for members with a current 2014 ACCC membership. Annual membership expires Dec. 31st of each year.
Must be 15 years of age or older and minors are to be accompanied by a parent unless otherwise approved by instructor.
