VOCAL TAPESTRY - Here's to Cal: A Musical Tribute
Sheila Feay-Shaw, Vocal Tapestry founding director and 1980 graduate of Shawano High School, returns with her performing ensemble to honor the late Calvin Brockman. Previous high esteemed band director at Shawano High School, Brockman helped shape Feay-Shaw into the musician she is today. Unable to attend Brockman's funeral, this show allows her to tribute one of her musical mentors and give back to her hometown community. Feay-Shaw currently serves as the chair of music education and associate professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
The performance will include musical pieces from Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Macedonia, Croatia, China, Israel, Mozambique, Samoa, Nova Scotia, Jamaica and African American traditions. Since the group's origin, one musical piece remains the same "Here's to Song." This piece closes each performance and undoubtedly embodies the ensembles love for music.
Vocal Tapestry members include: Jon Gilliland, Genevieve Jorn, Kathleen Koch, Steven Shaw, Beth Sacharski, Robert Sacharski and Mark Vollmers.
